Ok, first off, the B/W version is ok, but the color version is more powerful. The connection with children, not caring, not noticing color, race... that says it all. The B/W version is just a variation on the theme already well understood. This brought back some memories of 1967. I was 9 years old and living in Gary, Indiana. My school was all white and one day we were integrated... I remember standing off to one side as bus loads of new students came into my playground... and nothing changed. It was not the end of the world. We can get along together. This shot says way more than just "Two Home-schoolers". We may not have reached the end, but we have, as a nation... made great strides. Maybe a tiny bit overexposed, but so gorgeous. I love the interaction and also, contrast, between the pair of them. Her so fair and blonde, with his rich dark skin. Love it in the black and white too.
I got to looking at this pic - is it better in B&W, anyone? Let me know what you think. I also am not sure whether I should crop it to center the subjects better. Feel free to share your opinions. Thanks.
