About This is another badlands shot from this years trip. I had about 20 minutes of light before the rain came so i shot like crazy since this was about to be the third trip in which the clouds and rain put an end to my shooting.

Thanks for your comments. I have gone to the Badlands 4 years in a row, This was the first time I got some decent light, and since there was some mositure, actual colors !!
The day before this was taken, I went out there and it was a dust storm. 60 MPH and you couldn't see anything.

jim, slow down man! i can't type this fast! ;^) one incredible shot after another. every time i see one of your badlands shots i feel worse and worse about missing that trip last spring. gorgeous landscape and very well captured by you. love the stripes. color stripes. light and shadow stripes. elevation stripes. they're everywhere. truly magnificent photo!

I'm with Gayle, Jim. It's the layers of colour that make this such a great shot for me. They give the image depth and the light on the distant rocks (mountains?) are the icing on the cake!

Beautiful sacred landscape...i was there for the first time last year in Aug....one of my first posts on UF in later Dec. or Jan. was of the badlands and i think i rec'd one or two comments!..this is lovely with the striated bands of color and light/shadow..love SD!..gayle

jim your work is amazing, such a wonderful image of badlands, its amazing how many great images you have snaped on your trip, i took like 30 rolls of film on my 3 and a half month cross country trip and only enjoyed about 40 images of the entire batch.... i love your work and cant wait for more
