Great macro shot. It almost looks like it's on water. The reflection helps make this a very strong photo.

Stephen Yes thats what you want to tie it like. However I have 3 sons who are expert Flyfishermen. in fact my son Eric who lives in Madison Wisconsin, I s member of Trout unlimited and is classed as expert Instructor. He is the guy to talk to about that.

Beautiful capture Jim, so this is what a proper mayfly "should" look like ??
I have tried tying this with feathers and cotton several times for my fly fishing lol

Lukasz I don't know what your frozen stuff is. I don't use props, drugs, bait, blinds/ nothing. I carry a camera all the time and record what I see as I see it. Besides, I had my 3 boys along on this trip and there was no room for frozen spray, or much of anything for that matter.
This was in the cool of the evening and insects slow down as it gets cooler. Thanks for the nice comment jimc

it looks like frozen; did you use any "frozen spray" to froze it and catch it for a moment? :-) excellent reflection Jim; there are so many details to see; I am just wondering how many slides I would have to take to obtain such effect; regards Lukasz

What a great catch, Jim! Superb clarity and detail. What amazing eyes ~ and that 3-haired tail! Extraordinary! Best regards, Chris Of course, had I been loading this one up I'd have had great difficulty resisting the temptation to call it: 'May Fly, May Not'!!

Sure made a great background. When I first looked at the picture I thought that it was sitting on water. Nice graduated background. Don.
