Don
it was a combination, it was a pretty good wave plus I was above it 15 feet or so. the sun peaked out for a second and I just shot. I saw the expression when I got it on the computer.

It's pretty obvious which is the male.. Always in front getting chewed from behind.. Jim this is a great capture. Love the deep blues. Was this a big wave or were you shooting down into the water?? Don.

Hmmm...I just sent my comment and the site went down...after ten minutes, it is back and I am still smiling. Excellent capture, great detail, and perfect title, lol. Just between us...I would say the one on the right is a female...right?? Thanks for sharing your photo and humor....Gloria

Lol ohhhh Jim....boy, what a capture!! I did not notice the title before I opened the thumbprint, my first thoughts upon seeing it...wow, talk about being hen pecked....great detail, love the effect of the background, and loved the laugh I had....and find myself still smiling from ear to ear.....oh by the way...keep this a secret, but my guess.. the gender of the squacker is....(female)...lol....Gloria

another thing , I did use "neat image" to slur the background a bit, thus bringing out the birds. it smoothed the background, and took a bit of sharpness out of the birds as well, but i liked the effect. attached is the shot before neat image

No the shot is as it is. There is this place ( my favorite) called Stony Point. I go there every day on the way to and from work. The gravel road takes you right along Lake Superior. I posted a shot earlier of big waves from there. well the sea will run there when it doesn't anywhere else because of the shallow bottom. On this day the wind was really pushing and the sae was high. when this happens the gulls patrol back and forth just off shore looking for food. these two where right in sync and i caught them.
So the photo is one shot. Heck i still haven't mastered moving stuff, den gave me a great primer but haven't had time to work on it.

Tim
I have a meeting in the morning before i go to work and its Friday ! Besides that i got 45 minutes of hard sleep and woke up. so i always get up and wander around till about 3 then go back to bed for 3 hours. i live on 5 hours a night anyway. when you get to my age you hate to go to sleep for two reasons, 1 you might not wake up, and 2 you might miss something ;-)

Cracked me up, this one Jim!! Great title!
I think there could be a big divergence of opinion on the sex of the birds, depending on who is leaving the comment!!
But the whole shot is superbly put together ~ it was 'put together', wasn't it?! :>)
Thanks for the smile so early in the morning!
Best regards, Chris
