Jim if you could only see my expression when I looked at this image, slowing shaking my head with a smile on my face....I'm glad that I don't try to compete with anyone, if I did you would be one to compete with and I would never come close. Fantastic image, colors focal, dof....all is great. My Complements. Lee Still shaking my head with a smile :)

Gosh, I am so glad that you accepted my critique in the spirit it was given! Some people might look at my bio and say "What the heck does she think she knows!" :-) but because I am so passionate about this hobby, I think I have learnt a lot in the short time. Not that I think I know it all (heavans, far from it!) but now I know what are distractions and what are not.
Main thing is Jim - as long as this gives us pleasure and it doesn't end up as some competition, then it will always remain fun and we can appreciate the time that others take to critique and guide.
I would much rather have somebody pull my images apart and tell me where I made mistakes and if possible, give me suggestions where and how to improve, than to just get flattering comments where it is not due. Don't you agree?
Nice chatting to you ... I have just done a bit of floral shooting (sounds sick doesn't it? ) and just know I will be disappointed as the breeze was too strong. Oh well ... I'll notch it up to more experience :-)

Linn Pick away ! I want to improve and it takes input from others to see my mistakes. that said, I would have had to use PS to knock flower out of focus, as you know these bees travel a a high rate of speed and its a matter of shooting and hoping. As I told Don, I shoot and toss ! But the key is I am having fun and Love to hear from you and others about what I produce. Thanks again. jimc

Morning Jim :-)
I hate to nitpick an image from an experienced photographer like you, so I do hope you will not mind my bit of commenting of what I find distracting in this image?
I like the very sharp and in focus bee and the little bundle of pollen that he is carrying really makes this image for me. In this case I don't feel the flower needs to be in sharp focus, because I think the eye should be drawn to the bee in action.
Having said that - the little bit of yellow on the bottom left and the stem on the bottom right is just too much in focus. A tighter cropping would remove it but then leave you with a very narrow image. Or alternatively, a bit of blurring over those two areas might work the trick.
Apart from the above - I find this image has excellent DOF, great colour and a simple yet stylish final presentation by the way you framed it.
