About I've taught in many a Christian retreat centre down the years but here's one I've never had the chance to visit. Lee Abbey, just the other side of the Valley of the Rocks from Lynton ~ and what a superb place it looks. Beautiful building, magnificent grounds, and even a little putting green!

Caught it on a nice day ~ it's been a great summer for clouds!!

Best regards, Chris

Thanks Peter, but the 'lean' could be down to my somewhat hasty attempts to correct the overall perspective.
Kind regards, Chris

Great view .. pity the wide-angle effect is tilting the right half of the building to the back .. regards, Peter

Excellent job Chris. Again, you did a great capture of this building. I think it is time to trade my film Nikon for the D70.

Beautiful landscape! What an incredible place. Great composition colors and light. And you are right about the sky, great one. I don't see anything plain about this shot.

What a beautiful building in this peaceful landscape. And so well taken, Chris. The composition is perfect and the colors are just amazing. You must have a nice summer this year. Here on the continent it's terrible. Wonderful image.
Kind regards, Günter.

Hi Linn,
I'm with you on the "concrete monster"~ it does rather spoil the look of the place!! I did consider cropping it a bit from the right, but wanted to include the little flag that marks one of the holes on the putting green and also wanted to retain the long sweep of the railing.

Two possible explanations for the tree are: i. The wind ~ it's very strong in that neck of the woods!! And, ii. It may well have been cut to shape!!

Have a good Monday, Chris

It does look a beautiful place, and superb shot. The clouds do look great, it does a pic off doesn't it.

Great building! Just look at those two big (main) windows! Great capture of colours. I like the big open lawns but am most intrigued by the tree's weird shape. A shame though that they built that concrete monster behind this glorious spread of architecture.
