Jon, You were asking about the Picture of the Pier. It was taken in mid November after sun set. The sun had set to the left of the frame and the sky still had some colour when I started. The exposure was about 5 minutes, but when I finished it was completely dark (about 15 minutes later). The lack of star trails is due to the fact that it was overcast but not a dark grey cloud cover more of a lightish one. The blue effect was actually present at the time but not as saturated in real life. I can only put this down to the film and perhaps the light temperature was cooler due to the cloud cover and time of year - I'm not sure. There was also very little ambient light around. It was litterally pitch black when we returned the short distance to the hotel! Now you know as much as me about this image :)
