Hi Greg,
Orion Telescopes makes a little device called the Steady Pix Camera Mount. It clamps onto your telescope eyepiece and allows you to mount a digital camera perfectly. This image of Jupiter is actually 2 exposures, the moons require a longer exposure, but that would blow out all of Jupiter's detail. Try starting at 1/250 and work your way up.

Hi Greg. I'm glad you like this one. It's actually 2 different exposures, a short one for Jupiter (because it really bright) and a slightly longer one for the moons. Try a shutter speed of 1/250 and work your way up from there. As for mounting the camera, I used to hand hold it up to the eyepiece (which is really hard) and then I discovered this thing....

Hi Ryan great image. Have been trying to photograph jupiter myself. I'm limited with my camera - canonpowershot S1 aperture 2.8 - 8 and 15 sec shutter. Have got washed out images with 4 moons just using the 10x zoom. Have put the tripod to a telescope and tried shooting through that but with no luck. can you give any advice.

Yes, I did use a telescope. My equipment consists of a Celestron C5 SCT and an Orion SteadyPix camera mount. It allows me to mount and use my digital camera afocally, because there are no available adapters for my digital camera. I use a 32mm eyepiece which gives me a wide field of view with minimal vignetting.

Hmm, didn't notice it untill increased the brightness. It seems I was a little sloppy with the dodge/burn tool...

A really good reproduction of what I sometimes see in my binoculars (less the jiggling). What is the dark streak to the bottom, along the midde?
