About This is my favorite photo I've taken to date! I love the framing, the lighting (I shot directly into the sun), the tones, and most of all, the subject.

I was really in the mood to shoot some nature / landscapes but I was in my apt. in the middle of the city, then it hit me, ?You live within an hour of a state park!? I loaded up my gear and was on my way. I hiked for 6 miles and found three location in which I thought would make a good picture; this was the last spot I saw. It was at the end of the hike, I was tired and was already late to meet my girlfriend, the picture nearly didn't get taken. But I resisted the urge just to go to my car and I set up the tripod and took my readings, composed the image and bracketed three shots. I am so glad I stopped!

Very Nice John! There is a strong sense of being in a cathedral in this image. And... in fact you are in such a place that could not be replicated. I like how the path leads my eye into the picture and the textural feel of the tree trunks framing it.

Yes, it is good to find another Minolta man. And thanks for your kind comments on my image.

Al the best - Bill

See, a digital colour picture converted to B&W would NEVER turn out like this. Thank goodness for film eh! Nice shot.

Good Image, tones and composition.
But extreamly good shot. Lots of photographers over look close to home and back yard photo opertiuties.

A good title I would think to call it is "On the Long Trail into the Woods"

John,

This is really a lovely image! I love the tones and shades, and your composition is excellent. It's good you stopped to do this. In the last few weeks there are two opportunities for what could have been great shots that I was either too tired or too busy to stop and take -- and I'm still thinking about both of them! It's driving me nuts.

Good job on this--I hope your girlfriend was forgiving!

Regards,
Anne

very beautiful. It's like a fairy tale pathway to the unknown side of the mystery forest :). Simple beauty

Nice one, John. It is tough to have a photo bee tall, with long vertical lines and still hold a solid base. The shades of b/w are very nice. The road/walkway anchors the eye, yet, I want to keep looking up. And the long lines and slightly curving overhang just seem to keep going up and up and up.....Again...nice.
