Hey Chris! Great action concert shot.
I think you need to stick to the headstick; the cropped version lost a lot of atmosphere.
I'm not crazy about partly colored images. Sorry, but don't see any sense in that.
Fill flash: I don't like that kind of concert shoots. To perfect for me and I think you kill a lot of the atmosphere. My answer is grain. PS takes easily care of the red eye.
IMHO if you pump up the contrast, you'll get a higher impact.
Concert shoots are a pain in the neck ;-)
Cheers! Carlheinz

the reason the shot is so dirty is because it was at a really small club and everybody there had sweaters/hoodies on (it was raining outside) so there was lent every where there was no way to avoid it lol. i really like your crop idea. thanks a lot!

The effect is really good, especially with the yellow shirt and the color in his tats. The drummers sticks are up which gives a good sense of movement. I think that the head of the bass on the right is a bit distracting. I re-cropped the image to try a little something, maybe you'll like it. I was also wondering why there is so much dust on the shot. I think that you need to clean the negative and the scanner really well and re-scan the image. Don't think that I'm doggin' on your shot Chris, its good. Its really a stylish shot, it just needs a little bit of work...
