kim, wow! wonderful photo. i guess this is your death valley ;^) although it seems to like you more than dv likes me. the valley seems to only want to dole out it's beauty in small measures. keeps me going back.
i love your composition here, especially the choice of a slow shutter. excellent velvety look & feel to the water and those wonderful colors in the sky. very well done!! now... where's my mai-tai??? ;^)
regarding signs: i'm glad you like the verts. i too like the mountainous background. in the other one i was too focused on placing the sign in the frame and spazzed on the background position. i should've knelt. oh well, next time...
take care, tom

I think this is the photo I literally screamed "Eeeee!" over when I first saw it. This is definitely one of my favourite Lighthouse Park shots with the perfectly exposed water, the wise choice of filter and the nice trail of orange clouds that pull the eye towards the horizon. The more I look at it now though, the more I wonder if the dark rock face doesn't weight the photo too heavily to the left. I'd be curious to know what others think of that. (I like hearing from others that I'm crazy. It proves what I've known all along.)

Fascinting composition with a mix of a dark mass on the left and an aerial colour feast. I'm delighted by the sea movement. The colours are really attractive, but I think that I would have restrained a bit in saturating them, but that's just a matter of personal taste.

Near-unreal color :-) What I like best about this shot is how the water looks after 15s of integration. Did I say that before? :-)

Thanks so much for the encouraging words... and I'm glad you aren't all sick of this place! (going there again tonight to shoot! hahahha)
Kym: Thanks for the re-inforcement on the vertical format! I took a few horizontals, but this one spoke to me.

Mmmm, Velvia. You just can't beat it for the super lucious colour saturation.
I really like the vertical format. It makes the subject matter more interesting. After the bazillionth horizontal sunset that we've all seen, the composition is just plain refreshing.
Good choice on the long exposure, the water looks fabulous.
Great work Kim, you should be very proud indeed.

Thanks Ed and Chris... The clouds in the background are actually clinging to mountains... part of Vancouver Island (which I never even knew that you could see from the Mainland... the things you learn!)
Thanks again for taking a look and commenting!
