Great capture Tom, not so sure I like the centering of the ears in the composition but that is just my humble opinion. Great moment I bet you had a blast getting this one. BTW, congrats on your front page appearence, it was a great critique.

Hello Tom Great shot! The DOF and color are perfect. I would've moved the subject a bit out of the center as Hugo mentioned, but that's the only nitpicking I could do. This is really an original shot.
on another note: I don't have any other MMW shots online, maybe I'll post one one of these days... you ever heard The Bad Plus?? I like them better than MMW, a little more melodic and less "jamming." I think you'd like them though... take care, todd

Very nice capture. Lovely depth of field. I know how these deer are. I have pics of a couple grazing by the roadside and looking at me! ( on the parkway in Bedford Va..)

Great Photo Tom! The deer might have lost MOST of their fear of humans, but they still know which way those ears need to point!
Great detail and good depth of field. Almost has a 3D feel to it because of it.
Great Job!
Now, if you could only remove all those ferns :-P

I LOVE THIS one Thomas, great humor and nice description by you! what a great shot, to even 'see the idea' and photograph it!! And the DOF is great! (or was it some blurring in the foreground?...don't know, whatever it is...it looks good) I like your center composition on this photo as well! Good job!
Lori :)

Hi Tom, Extremely original shot! Very unusual but quite appealing. The ferns in the foreground stand out nicely with the green undergrowth in the background. The alertness in the deers ears is outstanding, the fact that she's obscured by the ferns maybe even better than if she'd been visible; this way the appearance of the animal is left to the viewers imagination, which creates a very appealing shot. I don't think it would've mattered for this shot if it would've been composed differently. Out of "instinct" I think I would've chosen a less centered composition, but in this case, the tension is already there. Excellent shot!
Cheers,
Hugo
