Thank you for the comments. You're right about the balance. A simple crop would work here. The light I could do nothing about, I was pretty much on someone else's schedule (their car). Maybe some day I can get back there at the right time of day.

The biggest thing that stands out for me is the flat light. It doesn't help your shot and if you had waited (or arrived earlier) for the "golden light" you would have a better image. If thatr wasn't possible, a polarizar is a good choice for midday light. I realize that you wanted to frame the shot with the tree on the left, but there is no sense of balance here. Balance, IMO, is one of the most important components in a landscape shot.
