My daughter was playing with this hat, and couldn't get it on her head straight. When she stepped into the shadow from a vertical blind, I snapped a quick shot. Cropped, sharpened and changed to b&w in Photoshop.
The Pic I mean is ?The Girl with a Leica? by Rotchenko (a sovietic photographer of the 30s). The girl, as I said, is older, but something is similar. I don?t think the background disturbs, at the contrary, I love it.
the grain only looks distracting to me because it looks like your camera focused on that, looks like the babys eyes arent really sharp, but the door is... just my two cents..
Thanks Katia. I haven't seen the photo you are talking about. I'll try to find it, to compare them. Don't you think the grain of the door in the backround is distracting? It's the only thing I don't like about this, but I have no clue how to fix it. And unfortunately I doubt my daughter would stand still for me to recreate the shot!
Hi Jackie, your doughter is adorable. This shadow on her face and the hut remind me a famous shot by Rodchenko, with the difference that the girls was a bit older, but exactely so beautiful and spontaneous like your baby. Really a wonderful portrait.
