About out of focus, and not well composed, i know. but it was forbidden to take pictures there, and i did not want to risk my camera, in order to get a good quality composition.
the story behind the pic is more important this time.
what you see in the picture is the border in cyprus between the turkish and greek cyprus sides. there are flags of turkey and the turkish republic of northern cyprus, faced, across a two lane road, with greek and republic of cyprus flags. the wind seems to stop moving the flags, and all four flags (seem like they) are surrounded with barbed wire and fences, just like the cyprus problem surrounds its people. you see some kind of construction or remodeling going on...just as you see pretentious construction against the cyprus problem. decades have passed, and we have no solution. only some improvement that gives hope to some of us, just like the construction on the city walls makes you think, \\\"oh they are reparing what is broken\\\". this picture is also very important for me, as it tells me alot about my life. so small of an island, but life is broken into two. and at certain points even a two lane road could be the only thing in between the two sides of barbed wire and soldiers. Sad. (news: as of April 23 2003, the border is partially open, allowing cypriots to cross to the other side)

Very good Idea. 'Flag'????!!!!! How can a single syllable mean so much? Unfortunately, we seem to live in a world in which a flag means a lot. It can make people kżll one another, it can make people not talk to one another, and it can make people mad at one another. How weird it is that the flag itself is made of fabric and dye, which probably would have preferred to be made into t-shirts, or projection screens, or anything a lot more mundane and innocent than a flag, for a flag is anything but innocent. Moral of the story: Patriotism is a dangerous weapon in the wrong hands. And the bullet this weapon fires is called a flag.

here is the same pic, cropped for better detail. without knowing what you are looking at, it is really hard to see what it is.
