You could probably use this picture to test your aperature settings as well Marcy. Focus on the teal color and set at different aperatures - you will get different focus on each one.

I too feel this has a lot of potential. Definitely worth more time. I agree with Lexie's comment about the focus. i love the diagonal composition. It works well and the lighting is great too, but the focus is a bit of a problem. But good for you doing some exercises. I too have a list of exercises to do and plan on getting started next week.

An interesting idea. But the pots seemed to by out of focus.

This has a lot of potential. Composition is great. The diagonals work beautifully. I am having a hard time with the focus. It looks like you tried to use a shallow DOF, which I think was a good choice, but I would push it a little further. I like how the green paint looks in the front. I think you should go for that effect with the colors in the back as well.
