About
The Whooping Crane, being an endangerd species, this is one of only 300 in existance. In 1941 there were only 16 whoopers left. The IQ of this image is not great but considering how far I was away from the bird it's not bad. They stand 5 feet tall and have a wing spand of 7 feet. Shot from a boat off the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico in Texas, where they winter on the salt marshes. Joe
Thanks Ken for all your comments. Never say never or ever, I suspect it would be a shorter drive to Aransas for you than it was for me. :) All the best, Joe
Beautiful capture Joe, Very nice composition, this one was really worth it even though it was far away, congrats on getting a nice shot of such a rare species. Now I am jealous as I doubt if I will ever got one.
