Many thanks, Malules. It was one of those difficult days - big waves but not much wind. This reminds me that I have another from the same session ready to upload...

I like this one, AJ! The pose of the surfer, plus the contrasting colour of the board all make a great composition.

Hi AJ... yes, you make a very good point as to whether or not the guy is separate from his board. Indeed, the overvall position of the board is great, just the guy himself who is quite central. I just wasn't sure if maybe you had already cropped a bit off one end or another. But like I said, I think it's a very minor issue and one I only came up with as you wanted some critique. Oh and I agree you don't want to crop off the wave on the bottom and the rock on the left adds a bit of "framing" to the scene. So that would only leave a tiny bit of room at the top and right for cropping (and whether it would be worth it or not??) Cheers, Gary

You did very well with the remote control..loll Wishing you could do it this way, I was hoping a bit it was you standing there and making this winners jump;) Also think it is just right there and with the left rock not being cropped different, only if there was nothing else as a subject, or the guy was standing up all straight...woww I need to update my English...sorry:) So. I mean its just in balance, only my humble opinion...
Sleep tight, I'm exhorsted now;)) xxJen

Many thanks Gary - you raise an interesting point. Hadn't really thought about the centred issue and not sure there is much I could do about it. I wouldn't want to crop the bottom because then I would lose the wave, and I've got no space on the right (the sun was just out of the frame). I suppose it depends partly on whether you see the rider separately from the board. If you see them together, they are not centred (and there's an interesting play with the diagonal). But the fact that the rider is darker does tend to separate him, and he is then pretty much centred. On the other hand, I feel the cliffs on the left help drag the eyes back. Interested to know what others think on this...

wow, that is totally cool, AJ! What a great capture. The only very very minor critique I can see is that the guy is maybe just too centred in the frame, but as I say, it's very minor indeed. This should be in a magazine or something! Cheers, Gary

Thank you John! But you want to see a shark as well? They keep a very low profile round here as the water is too cold for them.

Thanks Avi - actually, the lighting was quite difficult as the sun was setting just off to the right and the sky was rather overcast.

Thanks Gust@vo. "El marco" - that's the frame, yes? I appreciate that because I have previously received comments on other images that this particular frame is too wide. I tried it thinner on this image but felt it just didn't look as good. Sure, it depends on the particular image, but your remark is encouraging.

Thanks Nicole. In fact he was sailing each wave and jumping in more or less the same location each time, so it was quite easy to catch a few shots. And I guess he'd spotted some guy on the beach with a camera...

Thanks Tony. Sure, I've taken lots of shots of windsurfers and kitesurfers. But there are few occasions when the light is right, the waves are right, the wind is right, the good guys are out and I'm down on the beach with a camera. Given all those factors, timing is relatively easy! The light was quite difficult here as the sun was setting just off to the right. There was just the one windsurfer out and three kiters. They were sailing in the waves close to the beach and I was able to get a number of reasonable shots.
