As the other shot a great effect, I like it a lot, you get a very artistique result under that white ...like overexposed water and sky and so only the round of the boat waves and the boat itself viewed, the result is really amazing and I'll try that effect ...if you let me....please! :-D Really I like it! It's very good! ...ofcaurse excellent rated! Cheers!

That's a beautiful shot. The boat looks very inviting for a trip in the sun.

Hi Doyle! I was waiting for your comment before acknowledging your influence on this one! I did have your shot of "The Fortuna" in mind when I took this one, although my main objective was to get to grips with the new lens and catch lots of kite surfing action. However, every time I spotted a fishing boat behind me I swung round and concentrated on that for a few seconds...
As to the colours, well, that was something that just came about while working on the high-key effect, and I liked the result.

I like Bek's points. Similar in some ways to my high key boat shot but very different in other ways . . . adding new and exciting dimensions. Love the UF BG idea . . . and having used the BG blend for my "Bustin Out" ( http://www.usefilm.com/image/1158458.html )shot . . . I'm suprised this idea didn't occur to me . . . it's a great one.
Honestly not too thrilled with the colors or lack of focal clarity (to my eye) - but you know me . . . gotta be honest no matter how much it makes me look like ol' Ebeneezer Scrooge! The clarity may be a side effect of the high-key but the colors . . . eeeeewwww . . .
Having said that . . . I commend you on the creativity . . . the BG and lack of frame was a brilliant idea . . .

Bek, sorry, forgot to answer your question about the background. Various ways of doing this, depending on the nature of the original background of the image in question. On this occasion, I increased the brightness, then replaced the background colour with the RBG channels each set to a value of 243 (UF background colour). I use PSP9 but I think it would be straightforward with pretty much any photo editing software.

Hi Bek: yes, both good points. Guess I was still thinking inside a frame when I sized this. I would still want to keep the boat off-centre but it probably could be a little bigger. And getting rid of the hard water cut-off is a good idea.

Also...perhaps dodging the water at the end on the left may look good, so as to blend it with the bg instead of having a hard cut-off...just a thought. B

Hi there AJ, this looks cool in the middle of nowhere!! I would like to see the boat and water a little bigger if possible. As you have gone to the trouble of making the bg match the UF colour (how do you do that by the way? It looks great!), what I imagine would be 'space' in front of the boat seems unecessary as there is the whole page to make that space for you and you aren't limited to the 'normal framing' of the image as such....oh am I making sense? It's late and I have a slight leftover hangover....no, no, I don;t want pity...LOL Anyway...in a nutshell, great work!! cheers, bek
