Aww. I have a 7.5 year old beagle. I've loved every dog I've had, but there's just something different about this one. Beagles are just a bread all their own. This is a very sweet picture.

Thanks, Cliff - we miss her a lot. I am retiring in January of 2008 but right now my wife and I both work. We would consider a pup after I retire and can then spend the time raising a little one again.

Biljana -- Zoe went to Basset heaven just a short while ago and it is OK that you did not realize that. I smiled thinking of Hogar and Zoe being husband and wife as Zoe was almost 80 pounds in weight but very low to the ground.

Marlyce-- thanks so much for commenting on our dear Zoe. You are so right; nothing replaces the loss but we still love animals, especially dogs and cats. Nancy and I both work but if we consider another pooch it will be after I retire.
In the meantime we go nuts over every dog we see which tells me there will always be room in our hearts.

How sad. I hope someday you have room for another in your life. Nothing replaces the loss, but the love you have for your pets sure means there should be room for another to share your love and make you smile.

Paul-- she really was an "old lady" and very grey. A good old girl that we will miss for a long time but she had a great life and was treated like a queen.

Thanks, Riny. Yes, we will always remember her. I remember the day over 14 years ago when we brought her home. She was so tiny that she fit on our open hand. She lived a good, long dog life.

Susie-- thanks so much for noting my Zoe's passing. Her suffereing is over and yes-- I do believe she is in that place where pets wait for their loved ones. Over my 60 years of life I probably have a kennel up there with my name on it.

Oh Jan I'm so sorry to read Zoe has passed on, I know how much you must miss her ~ they become our friends and kindred spirits and we feel real pain when they have to leave us.. think of her now playing at the 'bridge, free from any pain or illness ~ and where she will wait for the time you're together again :)

So sorry that she has passed on.The photograph of her is lovely.She looks so peaceful and content. I bet she was a wonderful dog and will be missed greatly. I also know the pain of losing a dog (family member really )mine was about the same age when she passed her name was candy.
