Hi Bharat,
If you are planning to upgrade from point and shoot to DSLR and have no intention to get into serious PRO Stuff go for --- D40 (600 $ ), if you would think of investing in good lenses based on what kind of photography you do often think about Nikon D80 but thats 1000 $ plus for the body, plus lenses.
