Thanks Martin . . . the museum lists info and history as well. As this is an international site and not all religions are familiar with Adam . . . allow me to add:
Mammut americanum (Mastadon)
Compared to modern elephants, mastodons were squat and long in the body. Shoulder height varied from about 2 m to 2.6 m. Hair was coarse and reddish brown. This species was confined to North America, and was most common in the east, where it found favourable habitat in spruce forests or open spruce woodlands. Mastodons are known to have eaten conifer twigs and cones, leaves, grasses, and swamp plants. Scimitar cats evidently hunted young mastodons, while adults were sometimes killed by Paleo-Indians. Mastodons lived throughout the Ice Age (the last 2,000,000 years), dying out about 9,000 years ago. (So ends the non-specific, non-religious, scientific data presented). Thanks Martin . . . I appreciate the comments!!

Dang it ...Every time I add a friend, or make a favorite picture I loose my comment. I was writing that I enjoyed the explanation of the museum . I like the tones, textures, and details as well as the Mastadone ( as far as Mastadones go)) The vertical panorama adds to this as one of my favorite pictures . Beautiful Doyle ! Michele Carlsen~

Doyle,
Well seen and nice cropping my friend. Just a bit of history if you don't mind. Something most don't know about.
This depicts the pre Adamite age. Before Adam the earth was home to these awesome creatures and what we refer to as the caveman of course. God wiped it all out with the ice age. And you know the rest of the story up to today’s times.
Anyways thanks for sharing,
Marty

I'm with you as to preference Jessie . . . but having blended these and finished the work I wasn't just going to discard the other, though I would have if they weren't different viewpoints . . . one modern, one hiding the modern. Each has a strength the other does not. Thanks for looking.

So true Annemette . . . I saw an amazing National Geographic special about the Grauballmanden. I love this kind of history because it seems to bring the past to life. And these piits have been featured in a number of movies . . . the last (I think) about a volcano in LA. Ouch . . . and I complain about the weather! ---All my best Annemette!

Yes Riny, it's real. We had a Mastadon BBQ for our 4th of July festivities! :) . . . . Oh wait, no we didn't . . . I'm just being "funny" but you know me. It's a real statue in the tar pit though! . And thanks, Riny . . . As always . . . for the continued and much valued support you have given me! Hope you don't mind my teasing . . . :P :)

Thanks Carlen! Although I often DO use a tripod I was lucky enough to have a walkway railing for forearm support and did these 300mm lens shots handheld (elbows on rail). I usually take two or three at each station to ensure a proper meshing of image but this wasn't needed here. It certainly pays off big to do the work BEFORE you take the shot! ---And we did have fun (as always) . . . it was a blast!

Oh, very interesting. I saw this tarpit in a movie. I wouldn´t want to get caught in that stuff. It´s amazing that all these prehistoric animals have been preserved and eventually found down there. In our swamps lots of people have been sacrificed or burried in the bronzeage. There have been found incredibly well-preserved bodies of people that are now in museums. The "Grauballmanden" looks like he´s sleeping! Thanks for sharing this pit with us!:-) Best wishes, Annemette

Interesting. I bet you had fun here. I didn't even realize it was a panorama until I read the comments. You did a wonderful job stitching the photos together. I would like to try a panorama one of these days. I'm assuming you used a tripod for this one?

Thank you Robin . . . Like I just told Susie . . . I FINALLY figured out that the Pano-stitching is MUCH easier if you do the work during the shooting of making exposure and focal length as close to the same as possible. Shooting in RAW helped iron out little differences before I even began the stitching. Oh, and by the way . . . focal lock helps too!
Still learning -
