maybe the tones are in the scan not optimal. but the print has pure whites for example in the cigarettes and blacks in the car ;)

Hello Joern, maybe it's the screen but I noticed a strong separation between lights and shadows. Mainly I see (if my screen is not broken! :) ) a flat light grey as the medium greys where compressed. Let's say, speaking in zone system language : all the greys from zone 5 to 8 has been compressed from 7 to 8 and all the ones from 1 to 3 has been compressed in 1. That the reason of my comments. I usually have this effect if I try to work on curve with "reverse S" shape.
Bye bye
Giuliano

Hi Giuliano,
why do you find this tonal range unusual for film. in my opinion nothing can make more tonal range than film ;) the most important thing for good tones is a well developed negative. I develop the trix in Kodak D 76 1:1 and for 400 asa 13 min, first minute agitation and then every minute 4 times agitation.
best regards

Hi Joern, you played a lot with curves , I suppose :)
A little bit unusual for an image from film... but if it's genuine from film I want to know your tricks for developing with a so cool tonal range :) Bye
