Hi Tjaart, I feel a bit ambiguous about this photo, and presentation. Although I usually like the consistency in faming you use, I think it's more of a distraction in this one, as on first glimpse, I thought the dark strip was part of the scene.
As to the photo, it sure has a great atmosphere and tones, yet the gradient in the brightness is a bit fierce. As the tendency leans towards the horizon, the patterns in the waves in front are less obvious, whereas I think they deserve a bit more attention, as they make up for an important part of the scene.
Have you tried combining two shots, one exposed for the sky and one for the foreground? I think that would balance it. If you've shot this in raw, you can also apply these exposure differences during the NEF import, of course.
.....you have the horizon straight and in the right part of the frame, many don't!, in this altogether calming and well composed seascape, Tjaart, well done, nicely finishaed and presented. cheers, david.
