Thanks, Roger, the spiky ironwork has no real relationship to the tower. I also thought it looks like a prison structure, but I found it to be one of four remaining fire look-outs. There was an alarm bell that had to be removed because students from the Citadel found it just too tempting.

Larry, the ironwork arches over a little alley-way and has no relationship to the tower except for geographical coincidence that I thought made an interesting and appropriate image. (BTW: I leave tomorrow for my family assignment; more when I get back.)

Really like the place being central and angle of the shot. The spiked fencing and building on the right are very inritguing. You'd be a great history teacher George - have my interest immediately!

Looks for all the world like a concentration camp watchtower. We still have fire lookout towers all over Japan. The great majority of fires ervices, particularly in the smaller towns and villages, are completely volunteer!
