About
We backed away from the cottage and decided since the light was still safe, at least for a couple of hours, we would be protected enough to investigate these ruins further.
The children ran off in different directions, hide and seek, clearly one game on their mind in a place like this… “Remember kids, respect where you are!” My cry & plea followed them in the wind.
I did not really worry… they are good kids at heart & I have taught them well to respect such old places as these.
I turned my attention to a rather overgrown walled garden at the side of the priory, and wondered if indeed this was were they filmed Maid Marion, (Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, 1991) as she warned Robin of the impending visit of the Sheriffs men.
I was suddenly brought back out from my thoughts by a cry!!!!!!
Bless... one of my favourite tales as a kid... think 'folklore' is a very important part of our lives so must say, still a fav story of mine.
Went a good few years ago to see the great oak in Sherwood Forest... suprised to see all the scaffolding around it helping support it in its very very old age... a very interesting photo.. will have to dig through my old albums & start a new portfolio on here with my memorabilia.
