Thank you Mary... I could not have put that better myself & yes.. that little tree... well.. that's what sealed this photo to this poem for me. You have described perfectly my thoughts when posting this photo with the poem.
Again your critiques are full & rich... very well thought out & written... You deserve a prize my friend.. for it is too easy for people on here to leave short comments or say they like something.. but rarely do people comment with such great depth and understanding as you do.
I thank you for all your comments you have left for me in the past couple of days... I am truly honoured to have you air your thoughts on my photo's and words... as always greatly appreciated & really nice to hear from you again.
Keep well & bright Sue xx

Your poem is wonderfully written. It reminds me of Shakespearian Sonnet #29. I know yours is not written in sonnet form. However, as #29, the beginning expresses concern and bleak thoughts. Then the ending sees the good and the mood changes to one of hopefulness and brightness. Looking back at your picture, I see that it is a perfect match for your poem-- held in by the darkness of the walls and patch of dark road. Then your picture, as your poem opens to where there are no boundaries and the darkness is overcome by the light. At first, I thought the sunspot on the road did not belong, but when I see the raindow, I realize how it fits in. I really like the small coloured tree. To me, from your poem, that represents your colourful thought that changed the mood. MAry

Thanks for the comment Nigel... I'm happy with this photo.. like the way it has come out. I think this photo is nice with the wall at either side framing the shot, though I agree with you that more wall would have added greatly to this photo; the water track, though, I feel is perfectly positioned. I would not want that feature too central to the photo. Again I think it's all down to personal taste..
Thank you for taking your time to comment... greatly appreciated & may I take this opportunity to commend you on a wonderful portfolio. Quix xx

Hi.. I don't mind sunspots and I use flare myself http://www.usefilm.com/image/787862.html I like the poem and for me there is great color in the scene, in the grass and the wall, I see the rainbow colors in the overall landscape...yes, everything is subjective :) but in this case, the sunspots (not the flare) look more like waterspots on the lens... anyway great work.. and great photo!

I like this, I think if you had more of the wall on the left and right the composition would be more spot on. It would also move the wonderful water on the trak=ck more left a bit. The light and colour on the left had wall is supurb Great photograph Nigel

Just sensational (the photo and the poem). Once again, I love the flare. It creates a very visceral sense of looking into the sun. The complexity of the image--light and dark, colors. textures, masses--is very powerful. Good work, --George

Beautiful lighting and mood here, Sue! I don't mind the flare at all, I guess it's a matter of preference. The shot fits your poem perfectly, or vice versa! Dave.

Thank you Paul... I guess sunspots are a matter of personal taste... sometimes I feel they work, sometimes as you say they can be more of a distraction and ruin a perfectly good photo.
I like them here... they are quite subtle and if you look close you can see the colours of the rainbow... my poem is about finding colour and freedom again in ones life so I believe the spots add to the overall peice.
Thank you again for your indepth critique.. greatly appreciated as always. Quix xx

excellent scene.. and great poem .... I do like the composition, even the flare from the sun.. but, the reflected spots are definitely a distraction and take away from the image. It is always hard to shoot into the sun or even lights at night and avoid getting the reflected spots. I know that if I use a filter, I tend to get more spots than if I remove it. I do like the photo, the scene, colors, and the lighting... just the spots distract from the overall composition... good work
