About It's usually well after dark by the time I head for the local station and the one-hour trip to home. Lots of restaurants tempt me to stop off on the way. They're often rather cramped (narrow, like this one) but the promise of cheerful companions and good food is attractive after a long day slaving over a hot computer.

One hour is about par for Tokyo, Mary. It seems harder (amd further) the older I get, I must admit. My office and home are quite close to the station, and sometimes I get to sit some of the way. So I'm luckier than most. My salesman for many years had a commute of an hour and 45min. His commuter pass cost a small fortune!

An hour trip home. Oh, Roger, you must be tired by the time you get home. Great shot. It really shows us the character and feel of the restaurant.

Sadly, Bertram, the Tamron zoom was a dud. The second Tamron I have had to return after purchase... Good enough here, but quite unsatisfactory elsewhere... I was quite relieved to find serious faults that justified returning it, because I soon realized it didn't suit my shooting style. I swapped it for a CV 40/2. Lovely lens, although I don't want to give up my 30mm F/3.5 Pentacon just yet!

Nice night shot ! And the Tamron does a good job.

another excellent composition. the interest in what is going on with your subject matter is showing just enough to make me feel a bit voyeuristic which enhances the photo. I also love the warm lighting which creates a more emotionally inviting shot for the eye.

And I bet it's not junk food either, Roger! Good healthy sushi and vegetables. You'll live forever, man! I like the colourful crop and sense of the 'ordinary' Tokyo. Good everyday people shot. Effective inclusion of the spotlights, also.

Regards
Colin

I must admit, the noodles would certainly be a temptation!! )
Nice night shooting, Roger.

A charming scene. You managed to get in a great deal of color and detail. Well done . . .

Best regards,

Dear Roger, I love this shot! IT's a great catch!
The contrasts - light and dark, bulbs on the wood, browns and beiges, the firing red of the lettering jumping out to the viewre. The presence of people gives it warmth.

Isn't it fun to stop in those little restaurants sometimes and talk with interesting customers? Especially over a cold draft beer.

Heart warming street shot. Would be even more 'warming' seen in deep winter nights :)
