About There's a stretch on the Oxford canal that must be the bendiest in the world!

It's between Napton and Fenny Compton in Warwickshire/North Oxfordshire. there's a 180 degree bend at one point.

Not such a problem in a small craft, but when you're on a 60 foot boat, it's trickier....

But, as in this shot, there's usually a bend AND a bridge,. no idea why they did this, but to get through the tight bridge then face a 90 degree bend was a bit on the tricky side!

I was sat on the bow taking this one, spotted the tree and bridge perfectly reflected here, so took a selection of shots.

Note that all these shots are hand held - no point in a tripod from a moving platform such as a barge!!

Put the pedal to the metal and use knee sliders for taking it low around the bend Ade ... always works .... well on a motorbike at least (not much difference is there ?)

Great landscape photo Ade, love the reflections and this works great in B&W.

Best wishes,
Steve

This was the one I was looking for, noticed it when Den was looking through uploads and thought I must take a proper look. On the whole I prefer colour images, so a BW has to have something special about it for me, and this has something very special, I think it is the 'clarity' of the image that really draws me in.

you're pretty spot on there Den!!!

We had cans rather then pint pots - but the rest is true! God those bridges are narrow AND always on a corner.

Gonna catch up with everyone's recent shots when I get my life back in order.... if that ever happens!!! :-)

I know, it sent you round the bend trying to negotiate it Ade even tthough you were laid back at the pointed end, pint pot in one hand and telescope in the other.
Love the reflections and it's unusual for you to be taking pics of still water.
