THIS is a very good shot!!! I love it! it is clear, the light plays beautifully on the Jizou with child. There is no overexposure, most probably the light was much better.I, for one, prefer this closer look!

Your compostions, Roger, are so organized, You find the right position so that you have complete elements from top to bottom and the eye can easily come down the ladder so to speak to spend a little time with each one and yet they all blend to gether to present the harmonious whole.

Very well done and informative...I have a laughing Buddha on my coffee table...reminds me to not take life too serious... I bet living in Japan is awsome!! I am not sure I like how this site has you reply and it is posted on your own page. I think I will stick to the old fashioned way of coming to anothers site and commenting from there... =))

Well thank you very kindly, sir. I write for my living, so it's no big deal to write comments. In fact I've been trying to learn HOW to write a good, helpful comment on other peoples' photos as well as to say things that might add interest and understanding of my own shots. I'm glad you like this one. it's a favourite of mine, too, and I was disappointed when it was largely ignored in the advent of the new Usefilm.

Roger, your textual context is what makes your contribution so great. You think about what you put up, both your own work and the comments on others. I appreciate the time you take, and often follow you critiques on the comments of friend function.
This shot I feel is special in that it really does stand on its own, but the extra commentary has really made this stand out in other ways.
Thanks for telling us about the place.

Thank you for the encouragement, Brenda. Sometimes I rely a bit too much on the "About" because I feel the photos don't stand on their own... I'm sad to say the wooden stick things behind the Buddha are the names of people, in this case most likely children, who have died! I have another photograph taken here of an obviously grief-stricken man clinging to the feet of the Budhha with a bowed head, but it's just too raw to put up...

I really like this one Roger. A simplicity in each individual piece of the photo that comes together do perfectly in your presentation. The Buddahs, the windmills, the interesting stick things behind the Buddah with child, your photos here are interesting and i love the way you comment about each one, so that we can learn a little about your adopted country. Thank you for your ciontinued excellence here.
