About Watching the sun set from one of my favorite places... Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver. I've tried to capture the solitude of this tree before, but no luck. Finally I think I've got it. (it only took 6 trips back!)

Horizon straightened in PS as well as the border added.

Great image here rich colors highly wow factor here. You think a lower angle of few so the tree framing you image here would become more of a focal point... or is it the sun raise?

I really like the way you decided to compos this shot. Composition, lighting and appeal are very strong. Nice work.

Wow - Kim this is glorious! Truly a picture-perfect sunset, all the more impressive since I know you're not one to fake the effects in PS. The combination of purple-blue and orange is stunning! I don't get a feeling of solitude from the lone tree probably because of the rich, lush colors, rather it looks like the tree is reaching out and embracing the warmth of the sun... Great job creating an extraordinary version of an oft used subject!

Thanks so much to all the comments so far... I'm glad that I've finally captured this tree how I wanted, but there's still a lot more experimenting to go on!
Chelsea -> I have a horizontal shot of this as well... I'll have to see if the top of the tree is better positioned in that one.

Thanks for the support!

My only nit is the way the top of the tree runs into that cloud, although I'll bet it was impossible to move around very much to change the composition. The colours are wonderfully dramatic.

This place is starting to look familiar :-) Truly a picture perfect sunset with great composition. I like the dark mood which is not what I think of as the norm for sunsets. The ND grad is certainly your friend when the sun sets.

Very beautiful ,used of the "bonsai" tree as a fore-ground where the rays of the sun finish, lovely sky,,nice editing too, well done

This is definitely one of the best sunset photos I have seen. My only criticism is that you should have used a 4x5 view camera for this image:)
