Excellent shot, George!. It's an incredibly big spider, with a beautiful design. Thanks for rating and commenting my photograph. Regards from Southeast Brazil.

Great capture. The light to the left is a little distracting but this is a wonderful close-up. Good job!

Actually Kristina, I think it may be a wasp spider. In the photo is is very busy wrapping up a fresh wasp. These spiders do not fight to catch a wasp one leg or wing at a time like many I have seen. Instead, they just blast out a large net-like blob of sticky stuff and immobilize their prey with one quick shot. It was really fascinating, but this is not how I normally spend my life. I had a few minutes to kill.

Yiaaaks... this is horrible!! ;-) Very good photo, and I think it's really excellent that you have the hand there too, which shows the size of it! Is this the spider that is called "Wasp spider"? I bet it is, it looks very much like a wasp! Interesting also with the web!

The spider was huge. Biggest I've ever seen of this type. i do real estate appraisals and meet these guys often enough. I had a rudimentary camera and just stuck my hand behind the web and leaned back and shot it. Thanks for your comments and suggestions!

Its a big spider, but isnt it more like a matter of perspective? Nice effect. Best regards. Rui

WOW!! HUGE spider..different background would have been nice, the hot spots from the cement walkways are distracting. Next time, rig up something! What kind of spider was this anyway? Is it regional? :)
