Dave, I don't think this is a violet! It has all the characteristics of a wild iris, we call it in Japan "ayame". Look at the design on the lower lip and the hair like spots on the side petals. The shape is a little strange, but with all the global changes in nature, it might be a handicapped flower.I like the soft details and the rather blurry effect of the image!
