About This is a reload of an image I posted a few minutes ago. I decided it had too bright of a hot spot so I cropped it severely. :o) Here it is again, thanks to those few who commented earlier...

Hi Mahamed,
Sorry it's taken me so long to respond. I had to wait until I had both the internet and photoshop both open to get the info! )
The shutter was 1/80, F 5.6, and ISO 400.
Thanks for your nice comment!

This looks like a painting. You have worked the lighting and soft focus into a very vintage look. Sweet eyes that portray innocence! Excellent!

Susie,

here is very interesting portrait study. It's tight cropped and desaturated to nice warm monochromes, I like the soft balanced tones and unposed natural expresion on his face. An impressive powerful gaze in his eyes. Cheers, n.j

Hi Ann,
Thanks for your input. Please always feel free to let me know what you think, good or bad! )
There was a touch of "purple" for lack of a better description in the original. I don't know where it came from. I cloned it out and there was no evidence of it on my laptop that I upload from. On my PC monitor I can still see it very faintly on his forehead and cheek. Is that where you are seeing it? Darn, I could have easily taken care of that...I guess all monitors are a little different. Sometimes I wonder what the heck my photos look like "out there" in UseFilm land. )
Thanks so much! Susie

The crop really works well with this shot. Matting/framing really brings it all together. Love the tones. They are gorgeous.

I love the crop and the DOF, emphasising the cute face and lovely eyes, but I do find the touches of pink and purple on the face off putting. Is it just my computer? Cheers, Ann.

Hi Andre,
That's exactly the feeling I had about it...an old antique photo. I guess that's why I liked it. It certainly wasn't intended, I think just a fluke because of the lighting that was behind him...bright window light. The more I looked at it the more I liked it too. Thanks so much for your detailed comment!

I like the angle and the light you did... the softness and sepia tones added alot to make this image an exceptional portrait. i like how he gazes and he has very beautiful eyes... very natural and candid pose... I like what you have done here, I will look at the former image for comparison.
nice shot Susie...

Hi Susie,
This one has a look about it that reminds me of the very old portrait images that you would find in Your Grandmother's albums. There is something sort of antiqued looking about it that I can't quite put my finger on. I don't know if this was the desired outcome, but that's my first impression. It has tones that grow on you after a few viewings.

I like this version much better! The skin tones are warmer. That expression is now more evident, since my attention is not drawn to the light area! Keep up the good work Susie!

A cute kid indeed. The light has created a very 'hot' spot on the left side of the child's head.

i think i like it as it is Susie.. that light framed his face and emphasised his look.. especially with the table lighted on the other side.. its balanced.
well done Susie.
