This is quite a gorgeous shot. The stairs lead to another feeling of loneliness where a past visitor tagged his name on the wall as if to some how they needed to be remembered for their presence while also scribbing true. I like you work alot. Very captavating and interesting you evoke strong narrative through the most simple shots which is not easy to do.

I was about to say what a good setting this would make to take photos of a model... when I saw Jason's comment :-) well composed, and nice toning. But for me the model lacks :-) ...

Alisa, I'd go along wth Terrence and say that the flat contrast does have a good purpose in furthering the composition. Strong contrast suggests vibrancy to me whereas the scene here says something completely the opposite: something a bit dismal or depressed. Therefore, the flatter contrast seems to be more in tune with the mood. This is excellent stuff, Alisa. I wouldn't change a thing at this point.

strong mood, the flat contrast and such work so well, definitely a great example of spotting a near perfect composition, this is one of my favorites of yours. However, a complete failure because you didn't put a person crying under the stairs in it. Better luck next time, alisa.

Thanks Jason for answering Erlend's question. I agree with it needing more contrast. I keep playin' with the levels. I also think it strikes another mood without a subject as part of the scene. It'all sujective, I'm just not big on people pics.

The photo was taken in the Marin Headlands in one of the old Army bunkers. I have attached a photo taken in exactly the same location that will hopefull satisfy Erlend... JCB :)

I don't think this boring at all. Personaly I like images without people. They tend to make me think more about the image, the story behind the stairs. It is a slighty soft but a nice image.

I like this. Good composition. But it could use slightly more contrast. But it is a little boring, I would put people in it. Perhaps someone crying under the stairs to the left, and another person going up the stairs to the lower right..? Or maybe you only wanted to portray these walls and stairs?
