A colourful photo with an interesting explanation. The fire looks like it is possibly manipulated - I know you do great work with PS, so is this another example of that? My only wish is that I could look at this picture even larger to see clearly all the interesting details. Very eye-catching!

I love shots like this too Davide. An interesting story to go along with it as well! Even the slight blurriness of the image seems to suit the overall effect of this photo. For me, this is a picture of what hope looks like. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Yes, large is the way to view this photo! Wonderful and interesting details, both in the children and in their surroundings. Well lit and great colour. Thanks for the explanation as well - it helps me appreciate the image even more. Well done!

A cool picture, with the lines being at a bit of an angle and converging towards the top of the image. The sky and clouds are impressive - deep blue and fluffy white. An eye-catching photo!

Lovely picture Steve! The colours are gorgeous and the composition is striking. I especially like the circular ripples in the water radiating out from the lower right side of the picture. Did you throw a rock into the water to create those ripples? However you accomplished this, you are to be congratulated on a wonderful photo.

What an interesting use of body positioning, lighting, camera angle and composition. The end result is an arresting image that keeps drawing me back to look at it again and again. Lovely skin tones and interesting detail in the wood captured by your lens. Nicely done!

I like the angular shadows in this picture, gives a lot of energy to, what would have been, a static shot. Nice composition, and just the right amount of contrast (for my tastes anyway). Well done!

Haven't been on UseFilm for a few days and I missed this one - WOW, what an impressive image. Is the colour of that plant truly that deep of a red? This looks like the kind of reds I used to get with Kodachrome film. Superb composition, I really like the plant on the right being in sharp focus mirrored by the plant on the left being blurred... I'm not sure why I like that, but I do. Perhaps this keeps drawing the eye back towards the plant in the foreground. The colours in the distant background also add some nice visual interest and unique accents to the photo. Of all your photos this is one of my favourites so far! Great work my friend.

Ah yes, but what is it?
On a more serious note, I've never been totally happy with the colour in this shot. I tried playing with the colour balance and such but never was happy with the result. Maybe a B&W would be the answer - I'll have to try that some day.

Even though it is just old paint peeling the lighting and composition your have utilized makes it an image that crackles with energy. I love the intense blue contrasted with the yellows and oranges behind the paint. Nice job spotting this, and making something beautiful out of a bad paint job!
Thanks for your comment on my Train Tracks photo. Much appreciated.

I don't know what it looked like before, but this one certainly catches my eye. The angles (of the horizon, of the arm and head) give this picture a lot of energy - the title is very suitable. Looks like it is fun to fly!

I didn't understand the title until I read your comments - now I get it! Even before I read the comments however I was drawn to the image. A striking close up of a beautiful looking guitar (and headphones). I like the high contrast in the photo, it really brings the red out and adds a lot of energy to the image. Well done!

What a dramatic image - looks like a airport runway the perspective takes us far into the horizon. Normally I wouldn't think B&W the best way to show a garden, but your garden path is so striking the way it is I wouldn't want to introduce colour into the compostion. A strong photo with the ominous clouds being the crowning touch!

Hi Jon,
Your B&W version is certainly more dramatic and I like it for its own sake. However, one of the reasons I took this picture in the first place was because of the green moss covering the broken monument. To a person from the dry prairies this was something I had seldom seem before. I like the mood the green on gray creates. Thanks for your helpful comments and your edited version of this picture - much appreciated!

Such a beautiful shot, seems like a lovely and peaceful place - even though I'm sure the person in your picture is toiling hard (as most people who work with the land do). The colours in the grass, soil and water are simply gorgeous - looks like they are enhanced by a sun that is low in the sky (perhaps early morning, or late afternoon). Well done!

Now here's a prairie scene I can totally relate to. Those long lingering sunsets allow us to set up the lawn chairs and just enjoy (as long as the mosquitos aren't out in full force!). By the way, it's really the ball cap gives this away as a prairie scene! Your picture has me longing for summer. Nicely done!

Actually Jon this part of the creek borders the golf course west of the Lewvan and north of the tracks - in this shot I am facing west towards the golf course and RCMP depot. I walk down the bike path (from where I took this shot) a couple times a week and really enjoy walking beside the creek, even on cold days like this picture illustrates.

Hello Dubravko,
This picture is from a few years ago, I am currently using Fuji Velvia. While I still can get Kodachrome (though it is getting rare) I made the switch to Velvia simply because it now can take up to 6 weeks to get Kodachrome slides processed! A friend told me about Velvia and I've been happy with the results I get with it. Thanks for your comment.

A dream house for a girl, pretty colours and a little like a castle. I like seeing the eyes looking through and past the toy, reminds us to look at this house with a child's eye. Simple, but effective composition - lovely lighting and colours, a cheerful image. Nicely done my friend.

A cool shot with a neat perspective. Maybe this is how a kid might see it - an inviting playground aparatus... with a little imagination this spiral could take a person anywhere! Nice picture, and perhaps that shadow is just the kid in you!
