About	(Background: Shiva and Kali are the two Gods in the Hindu Mythology. The Godess Kali was said to be in a rampant mood once upon a time killing all demons that she met along..in order to stop her atrocities the God shiva was summoned.. he lay himself on the path that Kali was taking .. and as a result Kali walks over him ...But she then realises her mistake .. because she had set foot on Lord Shiva.. The Destroyer in the Hindu Mythology....) If u notice the children are trying to enact what is depict in most of the photographs and statues that we associate with the god Kali. ( That is the godess Kali on the lord shiva...just above the head of the centre girl you can see the framed photo of the Godess Kali.) Perhaps one thing that keeps these kids going and the many on the streets of India is the faith.. The faith in themselves.. the faith to see themselves smiling inspite of all odds.... the hope that someday things will perhaps improve... the faith in a system that many would not have at all... the faith in their country... Taken in slums of Kolkata.. some place alongside the Hooghly river...when i was just wandering around trying out various features with my new Nikon D70s.! Please view Large!

Yes, large is the way to view this photo! Wonderful and interesting details, both in the children and in their surroundings. Well lit and great colour. Thanks for the explanation as well - it helps me appreciate the image even more. Well done!

Its a great documentary photograph.The story is described in a very well manner.Good sharpness and wonderful colour tonality.
The mood of the children is full of life. Only I like to see more space at the bottom. The Boy laying at the ground should not be cropped and inclusion of
the ground a little bit is necessary.
Neverthless it is a very good shot.
