Thanks, Andre. I was driving down the highway and there was this forest all of a sudden. Someone's property - I had to climb a fence. It was really quite lovely inside, but this is the only shot that turned out the way I liked. Very little in the way of pine forests in the Saskatoon area, I fear :-]. I can't imagine Christmas without snow... how dreary!
Cheers,
Jon

I told you Jon... Now matter how fast you open that door, the light will still be on!! You can't catch it, I've tried a thousand times. Andre

Merry Christmas to you too Jon! You got a lot of nice, fine detail in this one. Most of our winter walks are spent in this kind of atmosphere. We are lucky to be in Canada this time of year. Even if I do start complaining about the cold and snow around the middle of February :) Andre

Jon, Did you try putting the time delay on the shutter and shut the door? That way you can prove once and for all if the light goes out when you shut the door. Andre

Thanks Brigitte, although a gay couple seeking to be married in the US might question the degree of freedom that is actually enjoyed there. Of course they could simply move to Canada...
Cheers,

I agree... we are lucky to live in a country that affords us such freedoms. If someone were to name their bear satan, they would not be killed for it.
Good image, excellent statement!

Nice and dramatic- I only wish it wasn't right in the very center of the picture (but I know that is the easiest way to focus on something like this with an E500)

Nice action shot Jon! You captured his spirit just right. Personally I would have cropped away a bit more of the water, especially on the top of the image. Andre

Thanks, Arcturus. It takes a lot to balance out something as bright as a sunset, but human forms tend to be fairly powerful elements in any photograph. I was using a fairly long lense, hence the DOF. When I shot this, I was thinking more of a "mother and child" image, although the idea of it being two children is equally compelling.
Cheers,
Jon

Very interesting choice of shallow depth of field and focus on the foreground. My attention was captured by the silhouettes of the children in the water and the ripples immediately around them. The sunset takes a back seat to your main subject. Well done.

I have always had a fondness for night photos. I especially love the way the green grass has changed the color of the lights on the shore ont he right and the flaring of the amber lights on the left. A very pretty shot!
