Very creative shot. Was this an assignment? It looks like an excellent commercial shot.
Thanks for the comment on the eclipse sequence. It's gone down very well and I've sold three prints in the first day!
Did you enter APOY Round 1? I created a fairly half-hearted image. Wondered if the eclipse shots might work for round 3 - After Dark.
Cheers
Barry

I've recently been studying the stunning portraits of Steve McCurry - get a look at his book 'Looking East' if you can and I've recently discovered black and white, a darkroom and, particularly, lith printing. Having converted my cellar to a darkroom I'm really enjoying the creative possibilities of this medium. Got myself a 1950s Linhof Technika 6x9 to give myself the authentic olde worlde experience! Digital? What's that then?
Might get round to APOY 2007. But I say that every year!
Glad the commercial work's picking up.
Cheers

Good to see you around again. This must be quite something at its full 6ft size. Is this a new enterprise or a one off? Any plans to re-enter APOY in 2007?

Nice light and good use of foreground with the rocks tailing off at just the right point on the righthand edge of the image. The sky looks a smidge to coffee colour for me (looks like a colour filter) but that's personal taste. Did you try a longer exposure with an ND grad to turn the water to mist?

Fantastic colours and it is very difficult to judge the scale of the image. Make a lovely B&W too!

An interesting image with nice tones. A tighter crop to avoid the bit of illuminated pipe above might give a stronger image.

Nice atmosphere. You could try a little burning in round the edges to further focus the viewer down the path.

Nice colours and nice composition but I think you need a shorter or longer depth of field. The one you've selected here falls between two stools. Opening the lens up would have made the foreground leaves really stand out to give a really strong image and stopping the lens down would have brought the background into focus which might be less distracting from the overall theme.

Nice pano crop and the black and white conversion really brings out the tonal richness. The boat in the water and the flotsom in teh water on the left hand side tend to distract me from the main theme.

Fantastic sky. It would have been nice to get really close to one of big tufts of grass as it's a similar shape to the cloud and would make a complete picture.

AJ, thanks for dropping by my portfolio and I'm glad that I was the first to post a critique all that time ago. I still think that your first image is an excellent one and I can see that you've really got your 'eye in' over the intervening time. Keep up the good work!
