Phil, you could always adjust the levels of the dead grass in this image to match the grass in the image you took with your sunglasses. Just a suggestion.

I have a polarising filter, and some photos using it from the same day, but I didn't get the same result from the dead grass in the foreground. Unfortunately I broke my (cheap Sigma) short zoom that day by screwing on the polarising filter without switching it to manual focus! I'll post a shot that I took with the polarising filter for comparison.
