Nice job at framing the courtyard with the window frame. Just for another interesting perspective try shooting just the curved arches through the window frame. Job well done , Laurie.

Great capture of Mesa Verde, Gaetan. As an archaeologist, the precision at which these cliff dwellings were made is amazing. This photo reminds me of Ansel Adams photo of Mesa Verde, except yours is in color

Absolutely beautiful, as are all of your photos. You really know how to make the colors of the desert "pop". I haven't gotten over to Monument Valley yet, but will do in the near future.
By the way, I know what you mean by loneliness. Try going to the Trona Pinnacles here in california.
Thanks for the inspiration Jason Wiggins

Thanks Teunis. I am just an amateur among this world of photographic greatness trying to improve. Maybe one day I can get as good as you, Roger Williams, Hugo de Wolf, Diana Weirsma, Gaeten Daery, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc...infinty. There are so many fantastic photographers here on Usefilm. I appreciate and welcome all of the photographers,

Hugo,
Personally, I like the photo the way it is. If you lighten up the black any it will detract from the fiery glow of the flame. As for the cropping, the photo is vertival in composition. If you crop too much it will stop the viewer's eye from following the flame and the elaborate architecture upward.
Great Job as always and thanks for the comments Jason

Great Shot Bill!!! I just went over this bridge last month. I also went over the 7mile bridge connecting Marathon to Duck Key in the Florida Keys. I love bridges and am trying to compile a portfolio of bridges in the U.S. I aslo tooks pics of the Sunshine Skyway in St. Petersburg. Great color tones and perspctive using the men fishing in their boat beside the piers. Fantastic Job!! As a native of Florida. I love it!!!

Thanks Hugo for your constructive criticism. The actual picture is not as red. My scanner tends to create the reddish tint to some of the photos. I am learning photoshop slowly but surely, As far as the tops of the cacti go, yes it is a little distracting. I do have some other photos taken from farther back with all of the cati intact.

Thanks for your positive comment on this shot, Hugo. I agree with what you said. Lightening up the image would draw some of the intensity away from the fiery orange glow of the scene. Thanks again

I can't see the photo. It must have not been saved. Nonetheless te sillouette was what I was after. I could have done a longer exposure and opened up the exposure some, but the effect might have been ruined by destroying the serenity of the scene. Send me your photo and let me see what you have done? Thanks

Nice photo, Laurie though kinda bright in the foreground due to time of day. This subject would be good to explore some different angles, different light, different perspective (high, low, etc). Just a thought. Great Job

Interesting shot, Karl. I have taken several shots like this on my hiking adventures in Phoenix, Arizona, and Lancaster, California. The desert terrain looks very familiar. Nice color and focus on the foreground rocks. They are a great contrast to the flatness of the desert floor. Well one!

Thanks Laurie, This was a unique moment. The clouds looked very interesting and the thought of making this fir tree stand out appealed to me. I positioned for the shot and took it, then had to hurry to catch up with mom who was halfway down the mountain already. *L* Reminds me of many of our journeys. Thanks for the support. Your work is definately improving. I love the flower pics. Keep shooting!!!

Thanks for your positive comments on my photos, John. Yes the irrigation pic does look better without all that red, as for Trona. I was there right after they filmed "Planet of the Apes" (Tim Burton). If not for the sound of saws and hammers, that would definately be the quietest place on earth!!!! Thanks again

Nice photo of the rose, Laurie. I don't know if you needed a shutter speed of 1 minute, unless it was dark or almost dark outside. Good color, however. The depth of field is pretty good. I don't know what lense you are using, or if it is even adjustable. Try focusing on the flower, but use a shallow DOF. Diana Wiersma on this site has some fantastic flower examples. Nonetheless, you have progressed in your way of "seeing" the shot immensely. I am proud of you.
