Brian-
Excellent fall image! I love how the trees are reflected in the water.

Becky - You are correct, I did added the light effect behind the cross, I thought that it was more powerful.

And no offence taken, this is exactly the comments I would like to get I am new to photography and gladly accept comments - Thank you - Brian

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like this photo was "post-processed" in order to add light to the cross, giving the photo a mystic feeling. While I have absolutely nothing against PhotoShoppery, I have to say that I don't think this photo needs it. I truly believe the sight of a crooked cross in the middle of an empty field carries enough impact and suggestion of spiritualism to negate the need for lighting effects . . . I feel it's akin to a touching story which has more impact when one finds out it's true. Plus, you have a beautifully exposed sky with some nice looking, tranquil clouds and it's a bit of a shame to see them so blown out in that one spot.

I apologize if my assumption about the PhotoShopping was incorrect. I also hope I didn't come off too harshly - I really do like the photo; I just don't think it needs the embelishment.

I think you're doing a great job - especially with the added contrast - but I'm not sure if it's quite done yet. There's still some scratches across the girl's nose and chin. Using a combination of the clone tool, the blur tool and perhaps an airbrush will get rid of them. There's also some yellow discolouration throughout the photo, especially on the girl's head, from below her eyes up to her hairline. You don't want her looking jaundiced! To fix this, you could select this area with the lasso tool, feather your selection, copy it to a new layer and then use the colour balance tool to add a bit more red, magenta and/or blue to even out her skin tones.

Brian, you wrote: "good photo, but what is your question?"
oh, i think you know! I want to make you to reflect.

"... meanwhile the man burn again"
"... meanwhile the man learn"

its dependent of the kind of person you are.

About your pic:
In spite of low sharp and resolution, the composition is good.
See you Brian!

Thanks Sandy - It is great to know other people share my desire for old and forgotton items that are so often disgarded.

I think you did a good job with colors. Assuming you cloned out the scratches but some remain on her chest (?) A good idea to leave some of the imperfections in the "unimportant" background.

Brian, you said you have difficulties on macro sharp shots with the 5700,
just don?t forget the flower icon on the viewfinder has to become yellow
instead of white, to be in the range of sharping macro shots. This you can have just adjusting the zoom. Hope I?ve helped.

This is a great shot! I wish I could find interesting old outhouses and such to take photos of. I wonder how long it's been since it was used? When I was small (in the 70's) my parents almost bought a house out in the country with an outhouse. I've always been glad they didn't! Winters here can get cold and I didn't like the idea of having to leave the house to visit the john.
