Steve asked if anyone has an opinion on the lighting, and I do: I think it's superb. Bravo!

Definitely superior to the other subjects you mentioned.

Oh man! Steve, I had misunderstood... I thought you said ALWAYS shoot at noon. Now I get it!

Sai, thanks for helping me find my glasses! I may re-submit with them cloned out now.

Greg: This is Volume 26 of the Encyclopedia Brittanica. It has a pretty good treatment on photography, although nothing on digital since this set is about 15 years old (but who cares, this is useFILM.com, right?).

Either this is a gigantic mutant ant, or this is a very nice macro shot. Based on the lens, I'm guessing the latter, so... pretty neat.

Bill: Steve is right, the intended focal point here was the trailer, but I guess I didn't quite pull it off. And I unsuccessfully tried for an asymmetrical composition with the fencepost. Anyway, thanks for your input, I'll try some of your suggestions on the next one.

Bill, thanks for the suggestions. Your edited attachment was a nice improvement. The original shot was definitely overexposed (it was 2:00 PM in the bright sun).

Good job of getting a new perspective on something that's been shot 8 billion times.

Well, I personally would have had the model comb her hair first, and too bad she was blinking. But other than that I guess this is a halfway decent shot.

Superb. I like the way the phone lines on forever -- while the car stays there forever.

Andy: An excellent intepretation of this scene! Your dad's shots of this were about the landscape and the structure within its context; yours shows us more about the building itself (which IMHO could definitely use a fresh coat of paint). Very nice shot.

Sean: Randsburg is maybe 150 miles from Dana Point, I-15 to US 395 in Victorville, then another hour past that. That route all the way up to Mammoth Lakes is a photogrpaher's paradise. I went up last weekend and will be posting a few other shots in the next few days.

Phillip and Marty -- Did I forget to mention that in addition to touching up the tux in photoshop, I also did a bit of cut and paste? The layer with me was shot in my living room. But it's not all phony, that's my actual dog in the background.

Perfectly captures the waking-up-in-a-tent-on-a-beautiful-morning feeling.

Anne: On the contrary, I actually considered desaturating the image, thinking the deep colors might distract from the simple "light and shadow" theme. But I liked blue too much. Thanks for the comment.
