Thanks so much Jan! As to where I go to get these shots, not far! We have a camp near the coast of Louisiana and sometimes (most of the time) I just get in the car and go for a ride. There is always something to shoot, birds near the water, the eagles nest (the nest is 3 miles from the camp!) When I see something I just pull over and pop the beanbag on the car window and shoot. There are times when I do wait (and wait and wait!) Most of my shots at Bayou DuLarge are bean bag shots, I do set up the tripod when I'm at Lake Martin though and that's usually an all morning thing, especially in the spring. I am very fortunate to have such beauty so near and I'm very glad that you enjoy it. Hope I didn't get too long here! Thanks for the prayers and thoughts, Krystal is doing well and we have been busy going to some "GREAT" 6th grade basketball, Mason scored 2 points last night, they won 22-16! Take care my friend, have a wonderful weekend! Darlene

Darlene - you do capture some magnificant bird shots and this is no exception. The two birds have so much detail - but then so do the tree branches on which they are perched. Perfect category for this shot. You answered the how far away question - guess mine is how do you know where to go and how long do you have to sit to get your shots? I mean with that lens you must have to set up your shots. Not like you can just point and shoot - right? Prayers and warm thoughts for you and Krystal and the whole family. Jan

Hi Darlene,
Now I'm thinking I should have put my geese in front of the barn photo in the "patterns in nature" catagory.
