the dreamy atmosphere is achieved by a slow speed (30 here)and a slight movement of the camera in the direction you want to achieve the effect, a 15 would make it more abstract but still distinguishable, an 8 would be an uneven surface, still interesting (the room was lit with electricity, in Meterora and I shot from a tiny window). the slower the speed the more distorted the image is.

Mary,
The blurred images behind the main rows have an eerie effect on the whole image. And somehow the warm orange colouring brings a softness and beauty to the shot that is fighting the shocking aspects of the rest of the image. It is interesting because if this were done in B&W, the mood would be entirely different.
