Well well well!!! yes one could say that the heavy foliage behind her is distracting. I think maybe larger aperture could have helped but not necesarily as the shape of the background is that of an eye, in which the iris and the pupil are the girls head. The foliage makes for a beatifull composition, so if you should have used different aperture settings you should also think of the consequences for this background. It's a nice photo... her expression tends to be lost in the shadow though, I think thats the main problem.

I like the vertical rendition best. However, I find the heavy foliage behind her head to be quite distracting; like she is wearing a big hat. The pose is nice, but I think she gets lost in the background. Perhaps using less depth of field would help.
