Was this Hand held or Tri-pod?
If it was hand held....Try shoting with a tri-pod and cable release. That will fix some of the softness on the image.
Plus is your lens has IS feature on it....Turn it off when shooting at any length over 55mm....because no matter if the shot is hand held or tri-pod shot....you will get camera shake.

I was going to say that I had never heard of twin foals before... that is great that they both look healthy!
Very cute capture... It's a little soft, but makes up for it in cuteness.
