There'sa flock of tame chickadees at our local conservation area who will eat right from your hand. I held the digital camera on my wrist and took some shots from inches away.
Michael, that's the drawback of my digital camera, can't set the depth of field. Yes, I am hoping to be able to set up the tripod and my trusty ol' Konica 35mm, can hold my hand right in front of the camera. These guys are so conditioned to little kids feeding them that any "slap" noise from the camera won't scare them off for long. Now...give me a nice blue sky day, some good lighting....midweek when curious kidlets aren't around....
I used to hand feed chickadees in the backyard of our old house... amazing how light the little buggers are. Never tried taking photos though.
I'd love to see this shot with a more shallow DOF to isolate the bird from the background. Think you might try some with 35mm? The mirror slap/motor whir might scare them off though?
