Oh shoot you need memory? I'm a gonner. My cam has these little focus brackets that jump around when you push the button halfway. Each time you push they are in a different place. ACH! Shoot me an email and tell me all you learn. I mean it! lol lol Wait till you see what I shot today.

This camera, when on auto, does evaluative focusing but have to put it on manual to adjust most of everything. Yes on the evaluative, little red lights blink on the little focus circles - might have forgotten to shift the camera over so that the little red light was on where I wanted my focus to be. Going to my first class on basic photography on Thursday - hope to learn a lot. Hands on is really the way to go when you couple it with instructions in a book. Of course memory and practice help too. I will probably develop a little manual setting "cheat sheet" until adjustments become ingrained in my brain! LOL - I probably should laminate it, as I might wear it out from use before everything sinks in. Jan

Much better effect Don - wasn't sure what "hot around the edges" means - but comparing your version and mine made me see that apparently you have toned down the colors of the background flowers so that the lily stands out better without being overpowered. Right? Thanks for taking the time. Really appreciate the help. Jan

Alright how about metering, which setting did you use and does you cameras have a focus indicator grid that somehow tells you what part of the frame is in focus? I'm glad we both speak the same language. I haven't a clue what things are called. Note to self, learn the terms.

Thanks Ellen for your comments. I was probably on AF and the macro (little flower) setting, as most of what I have done to date have been on basic AF with no adjustments. Haven't a clue as to how what happened, happened. I still need to learn how to read the settings. I have found out that an ERR 99 on my camera is what I get when the camera does NOT like a lens. Need to take one back to the store tomorrow. A lens is not any good if the camera refuses to work with it - and this one does not like the Quantaray 70-300mm. If they still have it will get the Canon 55-200 mm and learn to use that one, until I can afford the others that I want. Jan

This is pretty, what made the center go soft? Do you remember what focus setting you had the camera set on? I like all the colors together and blured in the background.
I was just wondering where you were.
