About
Like another photo I have shown, this is a photo taken with a digital camera of a framed photograph. I set the framed photo on a table out on my deck, and re shot it with a 3.3 digital........ I don't have a scanner, so I do what I can to show my stuff.

Anyhow...
The photo was taken off of a trail 30 miles east from the southern Oregon coast at a place called Vulcan Peak....... a place with a wonderful westerly view when climbing the trail.
Going to this place a half dozen times yielded no real photos....... It's a bit rocky and steep, with no real features to make into a photo.
On this one trip, and that evening I saw the sky turn beautiful. I saw that tree in a totally different way that time.... It had an inch of snow on the lower limb, and that made me think really fast...I put on my newly purchased 20-35 zoom and jumped off the trail and over the edge with backpack and tripod in hand.... the light was changing fast... I had to make something of this tree!
I was thrilled when the film came back. Orion is on the left side of the photo, tho the middle stars don't show up.
'Twas a very good night. aaaaah, I slept good.

I converted this photo to black and white using IrfanView because the wonderful blue night sky color didn't show up as good using my "low tech" rephotographing method through the non glare glass over the print.

To me the B&W looks more impressive...

...about the vignetting. I monkeyed more than I thought when converting to B/W. The vignetting isn't quite that intense in the original color version.......more of a gradual shading from side to side.... you'll see tonight when I post it.

I will upload the color image tonight..... not a donor yet so I have to wait 11 hours 37 minutes before I can do it.
No vignetting, the lens is set at 20mm and this covers a range in the sky from darkness with the stars to the still bright sky to the west in the lower portion.

No worries I get long winded at times too! It is a shame that you could not show us this image in color. I am wondering if there is vignetting in the original top left as there is here? The focus is sharp and the stars stand out beautifully as well and the semi sillouhette of the tree. I can imagine that this image in it's original form is a beauty!

..... man O man... do I talk too much or what! :0
That's a loooooooooooong description.

I mess up......... Orion is within the tree area, not to the left like I said.
